MEET THE GRANDMASTER

Grand Master Niblett

Robert A. Niblett Jr.

Grand Master 8th Dan

Robert Niblett Jr is a Tae Kwon Do Grand Master and Qi Gong instructor in Lowville, NY. He began his studies in the martial art in May 1982 in Watertown, NY, after a major operation to remove a portion of his stomach due to ulcers and looking for a way to get in shape. Lacking confidence in himself, he found a passion for Tae Kwon Do and worked towards becoming a black belt.

In 1985, he began teaching classes as a brown belt at schools in Beaver River, Boonville, and Lowville. In June 1989, he was promoted to black belt. Tragically, his father passed away the following month, leading Grand Master Niblett to reflect on his purpose after realizing just how precious time was. He found his desire to offer the art of Tae Kwon Do to as many students as possible so that they too could experience the pride in themselves he had felt.

With the help of Grand Master Soo Kon Kim and the Universal Tae Kwon Do Association, Grand Master Niblett opened the doors of Niblett's Karate Studio in February 1990, named in honor of his father. He kept the cost affordable for the small-town area and built up the school's membership. In 2010, Grand Master Niblett retired from Kraft Foods after 38 years of service, and with the assistance of Master Kwicklis, 7th Dan, they continue to offer affordable Tae Kwon Do and Qi Gong classes to all ages.

Over the last 33 years, Niblett's Karate Studio has seen 106 students, many of them families working together to reach 1st Dan, and of those 36 reaching 2nd Dan, 16 reaching 3rd Dan, 7 reaching 4th Dan, 6 becoming masters at 5th Dan, 4 attaining 6th Dan and one -Master Monica Kwicklis achieving 7th Dan. Grand Master Niblett takes great pride and joy in teaching, and the rewards of seeing his students’ progress in Tae Kwon Do. Even though some students have stepped away from the path as their lives changed and grew busy, all cherish the time spent with their Tae Kwon Do family.

We Have This One Life to Give – Make It The Best!

As I move and take breath, this path I always step.
Thank you.
